Homestay by the tea garden is a labour of love by a Delhi based lifestyle journalist Nishiraj A. Baruah (ex Hindustan Times, Indian Express, India Today) who has built a a very creative place to stay in the floor above his parental home.
Facing the sprawling Jalan tea garden, it's the greenest and the quietest part of town near Assam Medical College and Paltan Bazaar, bang in the middle of Dibrugarh town yet far removed from the chaos and noise of the town where all other hotels are located.
The decor of the Homestay is very unique (see images) and many guests, including foreign tourists, have commented that it's the coolest Hometsay they have ever stayed anywhere in the world.
The owner is a chilled out guy and you would love chatting with him; the cook makes wonderful home food low on oil and spices, and even the owner's mother who stays downstairs, cooks ethnic herbal curries and other dishes.
